Member Spotlight – January 2021

Julie Hardy

Julie Hardy joined the Zonta Club of St. Louis in 2010 and has been “growing” ever since:

  • Director and Finance Committee Chair, 2011-2014
  • Finance Committee Member, 2010-current
  • Charitable Trust – Trustee-At-Large, 2019-current
  • Awards Committee Member, 2014-current
  • Director and Public Relations/Communications Committee Chair, 2020-current

Early on, based on her financial knowledge and background, Julie was asked join the Finance Committee where she was soon serving as a Director and Finance Committee Chair for several years. She continues to serve as a valuable committee member. As a worthy resource, she helps with managing the annual budgets for the Club and Charitable Trust. Julie actively participates in decisions related to the club’s investment strategy. Furthermore, she played an integral role in developing a club investment policy statement and helping to select a new investment advisor. Her work in keeping our club financially sound has not gone unnoticed. She remains devoted to the financial standing of our club by serving as a Trustee-At-Large for the Charitable Trust.

In 2014, Julie joined the Awards Committee where she remains an active member reviewing applications for the Young Women in Public Affairs award. This award recognizes and encourages young women in their political activities supporting civic causes benefiting the public at large. The local award winner is then promoted for district award consideration, and district winners are presented for international award recognition. The local award winner that Julie helped select in 2020 went on to win a district and international award!

In 2020, Julie resumed Director status when she assumed the Public Relations/Communications Committee Chair position. In this role, she is responsible for developing and administering our social media accounts including Facebook and our new website. Julie works with a committee to help improve our communication with the public and call attention to programs and activities of the club and Zonta International.

Recently, Julie was recognized by her employer for donating her time and expertise as demonstrated by her active participation in our club. CoBank’s Volunteer Service Award program honors employees for making a difference in the communities in which they live. A peer-based selection committee chose Julie as a 2020 winner for this award and CoBank will donate $5,000 to the Zonta Club of St. Louis Charitable Trust in her honor.

Julie lives in O’Fallon with her husband and their two children.
