Judy often gets her granddaughter involved in hands-on activities. Here they are wrapping gifts for Santa’s Helpers.

What can we say about Judy? Well… we can start with her long-term dedication to the Zonta Club of St. Louis! She has held many positions on the club, district, and international levels and remains active in her commitment. In 2018, Judy spearheaded the “Little Stones” premier showing at Maryville University. This event functioned as a fundraising and educational event. The movie featured four women using art to create change globally. Twenty organizations serving women offered patrons a chance to learn about resources available in the St. Louis metropolitan area. A silent auction added to the fun and excitement. Three local organizations benefitted from the fundraising portion of the event: Gateway Human Trafficking, International Crisis Aid, and Safe Connections. The event also led to the formation of a Golden Z Club (Empower).

Judy grew up in Marshfield, Wisconsin. She received her initial nursing education through a diploma program offered at St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Madison, Wisconsin. She married Ralph (high school sweetheart) and relocated to St. Louis in 1964.  She returned to school and earned her bachelor’s degree in Medical Arts through the College of St. Francis in Joliet, Illinois, in 1991. While she was working in the Geriatric Medicine Department of the Stl Louis Medical School she was able to earn her Masters of Public Health from St. Louis University School of Public Health in 1996. As Judy says, “It’s never too late!” when discussing her pursuit of education.

Traveling is one of Judy’s passions. She has been on multiple cruises up the Northeast coast into Canada. She has also cruised the Caribbean and Mediterranean as well. Her cruising also includes a Danube River Cruise… “I’m Jealous… invite ME next time!”. She had the privilege of attending the Zonta Convention in Hong Kong and then visited Taipei, Taiwan with Pat Yeh (also a Zontian) and was a guest of Pat’s parents for an unforgettable week.

Judy also loves to sew and quilt and it shows! She is often sewing up cloth purses, wallets, and organizers to use as gifts and as donations for Zonta fundraising auctions.

Golf and bike riding are also on Judy’s go-to list for fun.

Thank you Judy for your continued support of the Zonta Club of St. Louis. We love you!
